The Countrylosophy estate is located in Atri, a
splendid town in Central Italy, just 8 km from the
Pescara Nord highway toll booth.
It
is located deep within one of the most unique and
striking landscapes of Abruzzo, a region known to
embrace its nature, founding three national parks and a
myriad of protected areas, and gating more than a third
of its total land: no other region in Europe can boast
similar accomplishments.
The Atrian
landscape, with its soft hills profuse with olives,
orchards and vineyards from the times of Hannibal,
boasts the unique, distinctive, and spectacular
geological phenomenon of calanchi, demonstrating to the
visitor a stunning example of the erosive actions of
atmospheric agents. |

THE ATRI ARISTOCRACY
The city has ancient origins.
It is presumed that its history began in the 10th
century b.c., with the migration of the Illiri, and it
was marked from the time of the Romans as a center of
great importance, above all due to its strategic
location.
Today, Atri is a
striking town, rich with historical testimony and
architecture, extremely pleasant to visit and to
discover in its most distinctive aspects. At Colle San
Giovanni, the locale in which the agricultural
corporation was developed on approximately from about 24
hectares, the ruins of houses built between the I’VIII
and the IX centuries, were discovered and in part
excavated. |

One
has to begin with a guided excursion to the natural
reserves of the calanchi of Atri that, between dante-esque
landscapes and sudden bursts of wild nature, allow
you to make contact with the extremely interesting
world of flora and fauna, which find their natural
habitat in this region. Along the Vallata del Vomano,
one can follow on-foot the path of the blessed abbeys
of S.Maria di Propezzano, S.Clemente al Vomano, and
S.Maria di Ronanzo, ending at the Gran Sasso D’Italia,
with the ancient abbey of S.Giovanni ad Insulam.
In
only 30 minutes, it is possible to complete a magnificent
journey through nature, easily arriving at the grandi
parchi abruzzesi: the Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso-
Monti della Laga, as well as the Parco Nazionale della
Majella, or the regional Velino-Sirente—all
places in which the Abruzzo region fosters and cares
for the wealth of flora, fauna and nature, which it
possessively preserved over the centuries. In less
than ten minutes, on the other hand, it is possible
to walk on the velvety sands of Pineto and Silvi Marina,
considered to be amongst the most renowned seaside
locales of the Adriatic Sea. |
